The short version

Commercial exterior cleaning of hard surfaces – hot and cold jet washing services

Commercial pressure washing is the cleaning of hard surfaces on sites the public and staff use: car parks, pavements, service yards, cladding, housing estates, retail parks, brickwork and play areas. Herts Pressure Washing has done that work across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and NW London since 2008, alongside our residential work.

Seven local councils and organisations hold us on their approved contractor lists. We are licensed by Affinity Water to draw from hydrant washout points, so a site with no water supply is not an obstacle, and COSHH information and RAMS statements are available on request for every job.

We bring our own water

Most of the sites we are asked about – car parks, playgrounds, warehouse yards, pedestrian precincts – have no usable water supply anywhere near the area that needs cleaning. We hold a licence from Affinity Water to draw from hydrant washout points, so we can work legitimately on sites where a tap simply does not exist.

Our jetting units are petrol-engined commercial machines, so we are not drawing site power either. On a live site that usually means nothing has to be switched off, isolated or cordoned beyond the area we are working in.

COSHH information and RAMS statements are available on request for every job, and we are trained in what we carry: biocides for algae and mould, acids for brickwork, paint strippers and steam. The owner is CSCS accredited and on site for every job, working alongside our own enhanced DBS-checked staff.

Public and employers’ liability cover is £5m through Hiscox, and the certificate is available on request.

Sports surfaces

Tennis court cleaning

Tarmac courts go green long before they wear out. Moss and algae hold water, the surface turns slippery in the shaded corners and the lines disappear under the growth. We clean courts for clubs, schools and private grounds at a pressure the surface will take, with a biocide so the growth does not come straight back.

We clean both tarmac and resin courts. We cannot clean artificial grass courts or courts with a sand-bound surface.

Luton and Hertford town centres

The two jobs we get asked about most are town centre cleans. In Luton and in Hertford we have steam cleaned public paving, lifted chewing gum and taken off ingrained staining in pedestrian areas, working around footfall, market days and delivery windows. Luton Borough Council and Hertford Town Council both hold us on their approved lists.

Commercial work across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and NW London

We take commercial and council work anywhere in the immediate area, Watford, Stevenage, Hoddesdon, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, St Albans, Luton and Hertford included. Large-area cleans are what this side of the business is built for. We do not take on any form of residential new-build site work.

What our customers say
  • “I called Herts Pressure Washing to clean our shop canopy. Alex arrived the same day, as promised, to take a look and the next day did a fantastic job of getting the canopy looking like new again. Friendly, approachable, reliable and reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be asking for their services in the future.”

    Glynn Griffiths

  • “We were approached to see if we would like our decking pressure washed. We own the coffee shop in the Priory Country Park, Bedford and the very large decking area has darkened over the years. On the day it rained non-stop but Alex carried on all day and did an amazing restoration on not only the decking but also all the tables, benches and balustrade. Naturally we now strongly recommend Herts Pressure Washing to all in need of such services.”

    Steve Mansfield

Questions

Commercial questions

Seven: Hertfordshire County Council, St Albans City and District Council, Luton Borough Council, Hertsmere Borough Council, Harpenden Town Council, Hertford Town Council and Harrods Aviation. Six are councils, which is why most of our commercial work is public realm rather than private industry.

By the site, not by the square metre. We look at the area, its condition, the access, the water supply and when you need us on site, then give a fixed figure. We normally ask for photos first, and will visit the site to confirm the price if you would like us to.

We bring it. Herts Pressure Washing holds an Affinity Water licence to draw from hydrant washout points, which covers car parks, playgrounds, yards and pedestrian areas with no tap anywhere useful. Our jetting units are petrol-engined, so we do not need your power either.

Yes. Risk assessments, method statements and COSHH information for every product we would use on your site are available on request, in advance, so they can go on file before anyone arrives. There is a small admin charge for producing them.

Early starts, evenings and weekends are usually the sensible way to clean a working car park or a trading frontage. We work overnight and at weekends by prior arrangement, and there is an extra charge for unsociable hours.

£5m public and employers’ liability through Hiscox, and the owner is CSCS accredited. The certificate goes out with the RAMS on request.

No. We clean finished sites that are in use – car parks, town centres, schools, estates, warehouses and frontages. Builders’ cleans and developer contracts are not work we take on, and we would rather say so than waste your time.

All of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and into NW London, including Watford, Stevenage, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, Hoddesdon, St Albans, Luton and Hertford. We are Harpenden-based, and large-area work travels further than domestic jobs do.
