Who we are

The same person, every job, since 2008

Herts Pressure Washing is an exterior cleaning business owned and run by Alex Bracken in Harpenden since March 2008. He quotes every job and is on site for every one, working alongside our own staff – and he is the person you speak to afterwards if anything is not right. There are no franchises and no subcontractors.

That is the whole proposition. It is why the work is consistent, why so much of it is repeat custom and why we are not the cheapest quote you will get. We would rather do a smaller number of jobs properly.

Affinity Water hydrant licence

Licensed to draw from hydrant washout points, so a car park or town centre with no tap is not a problem.

Commercial equipment, not domestic

Petrol-engined jetting units, Mosmatic surface cleaners and Mazzoni steam boilers up to 120 degrees C. None of it runs off your electricity.

Trained in the chemicals we use

Biocides for algae and mould, acids for masonry and trade-strength paint strippers. Applied at the right dilution and rinsed away, safe around children, pets and planting.

Paperwork tells you we are safe to let on site. It does not tell you whether the finished job looks any good, or what the people we have worked for actually think. Those live on their own pages, and they are the two worth ten minutes of your time.

Who will actually turn up to do the work?

Alex, the owner, with our own staff. Herts Pressure Washing is not a franchise and does not subcontract, so the person who prices your job is on site to carry it out. That is the main reason the standard is the same on every job.

Have you ever had a claim made against your insurance?

No, not in almost 20 years of trading. We carry £5m public and employers’ liability cover with Hiscox and can send the certificate before we start, along with a risk assessment and method statement for the job.

Which councils and organisations have approved you?

Seven: Hertfordshire County Council, St Albans City and District Council, Luton Borough Council, Hertsmere Borough Council, Harpenden Town Council, Hertford Town Council and Harrods Aviation. Their approval processes check insurance, method and track record.

Can you provide RAMS and COSHH information before we start?

Yes, on request, for commercial sites and homes alike. You get a risk assessment and method statement for the job and COSHH data for every chemical used on site.

Is the price you quote the price I pay?

Yes. We price by the job rather than by the hour or by the square metre, so the figure does not move once we are on site unless you ask for more work. There is no VAT to add.
