What we do

Driveways restored to new, not just improved

A drive is the first thing people see when they arrive, and it takes more wear than any other surface on the property. Algae, moss and weeds work their way in, and the colour disappears under years of dirt. We’ve been cleaning driveways across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and NW London since 2008.

We use large petrol-engined commercial jetting units and rotary surface cleaners rather than small electric DIY machines. That means a big drive is cleaned evenly, without stripes, and in far less time. Every job is priced individually, by the surface, its condition and the access.

Surfaces

Drives we clean

A drive is one big surface, so an even finish matters more here than anywhere else on the property. These are the ones we are asked for most.

Block paving

Patterned and standard block paving cleaned back to its original colour, with moss and weeds lifted out of the joints and the joints refilled with kiln-dried sand. A biocide is normally used as well, to stop the weeds coming straight back.

Resin-bound

Resin-bound drives and paths cleaned with equipment that lifts moss without pulling the stone out of the resin, then treated with a biocide that kills any remaining spores so the drive stays moss-free for longer.

Tarmac

Tarmac cleaned at a pressure that lifts the growth without tearing up the surface or loosening the aggregate.

Paths, steps and edging

The bits that get forgotten – paths, steps, kerbs, front walls and edging detailed by hand so the whole frontage matches.

Concrete and imprinted concrete

Plain, brushed and pattern-imprinted concrete cleaned evenly with a rotary surface cleaner rather than a hand lance – no striping, and the texture and joint lines brought back out.

Resin-bound driveways cleaned without damage

Resin-bound gravel driveways are where most pressure washing companies go wrong.

A hand lance held too close strips stone out of the resin and leaves permanent striping across the drive. We pre-treat the surface with a biocide so the moss and algae release on their own, then clean with Mosmatic surface cleaners that spread the pressure evenly over a wide area, so your resin surface is not damaged.

Once cleaned, the surface is rinsed thoroughly at low pressure and a second, long-lasting biocide is left to soak in, keeping moss and algae at bay for longer.

Back to looking new.

How it works

From photo to finished drive

1

Send a couple of photos

Photos of the drive and a rough size – how many cars it holds is measure enough. Most quotes come back the same day.

2

A fixed price for the drive

Priced by the job, not by the hour, so the figure does not move once we are on site. No VAT on top.

3

Clean and treat

The whole area is cleaned with a rotary surface cleaner so the finish is even from edge to edge. Weeds and moss are lifted out of the joints and a biocide goes on to slow the regrowth.

4

Kerbs and edges by hand

Kerbs, thresholds and the strip against the garage are detailed by hand, then the whole drive is rinsed down. Block paving joints are refilled with kiln-dried sand on every job – usually before we leave, or on a return visit if the weather does not allow it on the day.

Most drives come with a patio

Plenty of jobs are a drive and a patio on the same visit, and doing both together is cheaper than two separate call-outs. Patios, natural stone, decking and pool surrounds are a slightly different job – softer surfaces, lower pressure, more treatment and less brute force – so they have their own page.

Driveway cleaning questions

Can’t see your question here? Give us a call or drop us a message on WhatsApp and we’ll give you a straight answer.

A drive is priced on its size, its surface and how much work it takes to get it back to new. There is no per square metre rate, because no two jobs are the same. The minimum charge is £250 with no VAT on top, and WhatsApp photos usually get you a price the same day.

Yes, and it’s often the best time to book. With a professional clean and chemical treatment, your driveway will stay looking good for up to 18 months. A drive cleaned in September will still look smart the following September. Spring is our busiest time of year, and between September and February we offer low-season rates with 10% off.

Anywhere between a few hours and six to eight hours, depending on the size of the drive and the state it is in. Almost all domestic drives are finished in a single visit, and rain does not stop the cleaning. Occasionally wet weather means coming back another day to resand the joints – we will tell you if that is likely.

Block paving, resin-bound, tarmac and concrete drives, including pattern-imprinted concrete, plus the paths, steps and edging around them. Each is cleaned at a pressure it can take – tarmac and resin are not cleaned like a concrete drive.

Yes. We pre-treat resin-bound surfaces with a biocide so moss and algae release on their own, then clean with Mosmatic surface cleaners that spread the same amount of pressure across a larger surface area. That avoids the striping and stone loss caused by close-range work with a hand lance.

Yes. Our Mosmatic surface cleaners clear the growth from between the joints. The weeds and moss are lifted out and rinsed away, then a biocide goes on to stop them growing straight back. Depending on the staining it is left to soak in or rinsed off, and once dry or rinsed away it is harmless to children, pets and planting.

No. Sealing a drive does not stop weeds coming up through the joints or oil marking the surface. It flakes once frost and traffic get at it, and in UK weather it traps moisture underneath. We would rather clean it properly and be straight with you about sealants – they are a waste of time and money.

An outdoor tap, and the drive clear of cars. Everything else is ours: the jetting units are petrol-engined commercial machines rather than domestic ones, so we are not running off your electricity.

Yes – patios, natural stone, decking and pool surrounds are all on our patio cleaning page, and most customers have both done on the same visit, which works out cheaper than two call-outs.
